Snoop Dogg will host the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27, as the ceremony returns to Los Angeles for its first West Coast edition since 2017. The live broadcast is scheduled to originate from the Peacock Theater.

CBS and MTV announced the hosting news on September 10, confirming that the VMAs will air simultaneously on CBS and MTV and stream on Paramount+ in the United States. The ceremony is set for 7:30 p.m. Eastern and 4:30 p.m. Pacific, with additional international availability planned through Paramount+ and MTV the following day.

The appointment gives Snoop Dogg a prominent role in an event closely tied to his career. He is a 13-time VMAs nominee and has won three awards. His history with the show includes a 1994 main-stage debut, a 1999 closing performance with Dr. Dre and Eminem, a 2005 tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. and a 2022 performance with Eminem.

In a statement released by the broadcasters, Snoop described the hosting role as a full-circle moment and recalled MTV and the VMAs as important platforms during his rise in hip-hop. He is also listed as an executive producer on the 2026 ceremony.

Performers, presenters and special guests have not yet been announced. The 2026 production is being produced by Gunpowder & Sky, with Van Toffler serving as producer and Snoop Dogg among the executive producers. Nirvana is scheduled to receive the Video Vanguard Award.
